Xiaojing Ma

Co-founder, Director of Arts & Education

Xiaojing was born in Shanghai, China, and began learning the Chinese hammered dulcimer at the age of 5. After graduating from East China Normal University, she gained over ten years of experience working as a program director and educator in multiple nonprofit organizations, including the Shanghai Power Station of Art, the Long Museum West Bund, and the Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation. In 2018, Xiaojing moved to New York with her family. Following the birth of her daughter in 2019, she began pursuing studies in Waldorf Education at the Sunbridge Institute and Sound Healing at the Integrative Sound and Music Institute. She has transformed the inspiration from these studies into various music compositions, expressing them through the Chinese hammered dulcimer and other sound instruments. Driven by passion, she brings humanistic care and the concept of holistic healing into everyday life and community innovation through the creation and curation of art projects. She also worked as an independent instructor and player of the Chinese hammered dulcimer. Her performances have taken place at notable venues such as the United Nations, Empire State Building, New York University, The Fellowship Community, Green Meadow Waldorf School, Sunbridge Institute, Kuopio Music Center, Shanghai Concert Hall, Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall, and Shanghai Heluting Concert Hall.
